After growing up with ballet and modern dance, Brooke fell in love with lindy hop as a high school senior in 2016. She started at Pasadena Ballroom Dance Association with the Stevens sisters, who got Frankie Manning out of retirement, before heading to college at UC Davis. Brooke immediately became part of the Davis Swing Dancers club on campus, attending socials and performing at events throughout California with their performance team. In the school years, she kept busy training with Gary Sharpe while serving as DSD’s performance team coordinator, which was her first foray into choreographing and teaching.

Alongside swing, Brooke has grown as a concert dancer, training at the Colburn School in Los Angeles, at UC Davis with David Grenke, and attending the Ailey School in New York. She loves bringing elements of concert dance styles into her teaching. You can find her during the week at Steps on Broadway and SwingRemix teaching with Spencer Weisbond and on the weekends instructing privately!

He belongs to one of the first Lindy Hoppers Dance Troupe in the Czech Republic and was instrumental in creating what has become the center of the Lindy Hop scene in Prague. Milo also performed in several musical productions in the Czech Republic. While he has been trained in all styles of ballroom dance (certified in ISTD) he cannot deny that his passions are Lindy hop, and all the styles associated with the 30’s and 40’s.

Class Descriptions:

Advanced Beginner Lindy Hop:

Lindy Hop is the grandfather of all swing dances. Popularized through television and film of the 1940s and 50s, the Lindy is a partnered dance comprised of 6 and 8-count patterns patterns, including a signature move called the swing out. Learn all of the fundamental steps and classic stylings of this original New York City dance. No partner required. Swing experience required.

Basic Swing:

In basic swing we learn more involved 6 & 8 count patterns with more advanced footwork. We will also build on your dance vocabulary, technique, and partnering skills. This is the pre-requisite level to Advanced beginner Lindy Hop. No partner required. Some swing experience helpful. All Broadway style dancers should have swing abilities!

(For those with no experience in swing, consider taking our Ultimate Intro absolute beginner)

Ultimate Intro Class Description:

Learn cool moves to classic tunes! This progressive, basic swing dance class will teach the absolute beginner how to Jitterbug or what is now known as East Coast Swing. This partner dance class will teach beginner moves in swing and the technique to execute them properly. The class will learn a routine over a six week period. No partner, experience or TALENT required.
