Class Description Open Brazilian Fusion

Silva Technique is a fusion of Brazilian Contemporary dances with a strong emphasis on Capoeira movements, and modern dance foundations. It has been revolutionizing dance in the world today and has been made popular by professional companies such as Dance Brasil. Modern dance technique has for many years shown the quality and harmony of dance and the body. Capoeira is a Brazilian martial arts fighting style, but at the same time is a dance incorporating your swing or “ginga” and acrobaticism. Together the mix of Brazilian rhythms and accents with Modern dance technique and Capoeira are forming a new comtemporary movement. Previous dance experience is recommended.

Class Description Open Capoeira

Capoeira is Brazil’s fast and graceful Afro-Brazilian art form, which blends dance, martial arts, and acrobatics into one beautiful art like no other. Created by Africans brought to Brazil, Capoeria began as a means of self-protection and as a way to fight for their freedom. During its early years, Capoeira was disguised as a dance in order to be practiced openly. Today, it is widely known and practiced in more than 60 nations around the world.

Experience the beauty of this rhythmic Afro-Brazilian art form that blends martial arts, dance, and acrobatic movements. Capoeira increases agility, balance and coordination, flexibility, muscle strength, posture, and overall cardiovascular health. Live musicians contribute to the cultural workout experience. Classes are open to all levels.
