Class Description
Most importantly, Katie’s class is comfortable, safe, and fun. Because she creates this type of environment in every class, dancers can advance their education and work on high level precision jazz challenges and technique without any added or unnecessary pressure that does not facilitate technical growth. Katie’s class is best for dancers who want to learn and perform in a manner that reflects the modern day artistic and directive range of precision jazz. Students will not just learn one style of precision jazz or one technique to dance in “precision.” Rather, students will gain experience in the classroom rooted in the rich history and evolution of precision jazz while learning work within the variety of dance genres that, more often than ever in modern day, find their way to the precision form on stage, tours, music videos, theater, commercials, and more! The diversity of the precision jazz experience in Katie’s class reflects her belief that there is not just one way to be a professional dancer, not only one body type that should be a professional dancer, nor only one type of artist that can succeed in the dance industry.
With an emphasis on learning details, quality and musicality, Katie encourages all of her students to take the learning process into other classes to improve their ability to learn quickly and retain choreography.
All dancers are welcome in Katie’s class, from rookie dancers to well seasoned veteran performers.
