Tyler Hanes

Tyler Hanes is best known for his work on the Broadway stage. A two-time Chita Rivera Award nominee, he has appeared in 10 Broadway shows including A Chorus Line, On The Town, Hairspray, Sweet Charity, The Boy From Oz, and as Rum Tum Tugger in the Broadway revival of Cats. Off-Broadway, he starred in Stephen Sondheim’s A Bed and A Chair: A New York Love Affair, Only Gold, Juno, American Dance Machine for the 21st Century and toured nationally with the first national tour of Fosse. Select regional credits include The Old Globe, The Kennedy Center, Barrington Stage, Hartford Stage, Signature Theatre, Paper Mill, and MSMT. Onscreen, he has appeared on FBI, Pose, The Good Fight, Elementary, the Coen Brothers’ Hail, Caesar!, The Blacklist, 30 Rock, Ms. Guidance, and as Jerry Orbach in the Emmy Award winning Fosse/Verdon on FX. As a choreographer, some credits include Kristin Chenoweth: For The Girls on Broadway, Dancing with the Stars, Kristin Chenoweth’s Some Lessons Learned World Tour, Kristin Chenoweth: Coming Home for PBS, Always Something There at the Marriott Theatre, Damn Yankees at the Marriott Theatre (Jeff nomination for Best Choreography), Jesus Christ Superstar at the Fulton Theatre, Footloose at MSMT, and the Latin American premiere of El Chico De Oz in Lima, Peru.

Class Description
Acting through dance is the primary focus in Tyler’s theater jazz class. Igniting the imagination through music and movement, Tyler creates a supportive environment that inspires dancers to explore dance through a new lens. Tyler brings bold style, storytelling, and star-powered rhythm to each combination and encourages dancers to find the joy in the work. Tyler believes every class is a new experiment to push one’s creative boundaries to new heights and invites dancers to think outside of the box. His class is a place where you can play and create.
